The Counseling Office seeks to promote a safe and healthy environment for students; it aims to ensure that HIS students are independent individuals, capable of understanding themselves as well as others, and are resilient against life struggles. The Social Emotional Learning (SEL) program is at the core of the counseling office. The SEL program is implemented across all grade levels, to promote psychological health, increase children’s resilience, educational outcomes, and overall psychological wellbeing. SEL is a process taught through several activities, both individually and in groups.

Additionally, the counseling office is responsible for following up on student’s emotional well-being and designing an intervention plan when needed.

The counseling office also assesses the student’s academic needs, in coordination with the pedagogical team. The Special Rights Programs, supervised and monitored by the counseling office, seek to ensure that students obtain their educational rights. Depending on the student’s need, an Individualized Educational Plan is designed and implemented; a learning support teacher is available to support the child as needed, both in class and out-of-class.
